PM Kisan 21st Installment: Millions of farmers across India are waiting for the next payment from the central government. This payment is the 21st installment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) yojana. The scheme is very important for small and marginal farmers. It helps them with their farming expenses and domestic needs.
Currently, the wait for the 21st installment is almost over. Most farmers expect to receive the money in November 2025. However, there are some important things every farmer must know. You must ensure your paperwork is complete to get the money on time.
What is the PM Kisan Scheme?
The PM Kisan scheme was launched by the central government in 2019. It is one of the largest direct benefit transfer schemes in the world. Under this scheme, eligible landholding farmer families receive financial support. They get a total of Rs 6,000 per year.
This money is not given all at once. It is divided into three equal installments. Each installment is worth Rs 2,000. The government releases these installments every four months. The periods are usually April to July, August to November, and December to March. The money goes directly into the bank accounts of the farmers. There are no middlemen involved. This ensures transparency and speed.
When Will the 21st Installment Arrive?
The previous installment, which was the 20th one, was released on August 2, 2025. Based on the regular schedule, the 21st installment is due between August and November 2025.
It is important to know that some farmers have already received this 21st installment. The government released the payment early for farmers in specific states. These states include Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu & Kashmir. This was done in late September 2025 because these areas faced heavy rains and floods. The government wanted to provide immediate relief to them.
For the rest of the country, the wait continues. Reports suggest that the nationwide release will happen in November 2025. Some sources indicate it might be announced after major state election results are out around mid-November. Farmers should keep an eye on official announcements. The wait is likely to end very soon.
Why Some Farmers Might Miss the Payment
Not every registered farmer gets the money every time. The government has made strict rules to stop fraud. They want to ensure only genuine farmers get the benefits. If your paperwork is incomplete, your Rs 2,000 might get stuck.
There are three main reasons why payments fail:
- Incomplete e-KYC: This is the most common reason. e-KYC stands for “Know Your Customer” done electronically. It verifies your identity. If you have not done this, the government will stop your payment.
- Aadhaar Not Linked to Bank Account: Your bank account must be connected to your Aadhaar card. The money is sent using Aadhaar details. If the link is broken, the money cannot be transferred.
- Land Record Errors: The scheme is only for farmers who own land. Your name must be clearly mentioned in government land records. Sometimes, there are spelling mistakes in the names. Sometimes the land is not updated in the system. These errors can cause rejection.
How to Complete e-KYC
If you have not done your e-KYC yet, you should do it immediately. There are three easy ways to do this:
- OTP Based e-KYC: This is the easiest method. You can do it from your mobile phone at home. Go to the official PM Kisan website (pmkisan.gov.in). Click on the ‘e-KYC’ option in the ‘Farmers Corner’. Enter your Aadhaar number. You will get a One-Time Password (OTP) on your registered mobile number. Enter the OTP, and your process is complete.
- Biometric e-KYC: If your mobile number is not linked to Aadhaar, you cannot use the OTP method. You must visit your nearest Common Service Centre (CSC). You will have to use your fingerprints or perform an iris scan there. The CSC operator will help you. They might charge a small fee for this service.
- Face Authentication: The government also has a PM Kisan mobile app. You can download it and use the face authentication feature. This is also very convenient.
How to Check Your Beneficiary Status
You do not need to go to the bank to check if you will get the money. You can check your status online easily. Follow these simple steps:
- Open the official website: pmkisan.gov.in.
- Look for the ‘Farmers Corner’ section on the homepage.
- Click on the ‘Know Your Status’ option.
- A new page will open. You need to enter your Registration Number.
- If you do not know your Registration Number, there is an option to ‘Know your registration no.’. You can find it using your mobile number or Aadhaar number.
- After entering the Registration Number, enter the Captcha code shown on the screen.
- Click on ‘Get OTP’. You will receive an OTP on your phone.
- Enter the OTP to see your complete status.
When you see your status, look for three specific things. It should say “Yes” next to Land Seeding, e-KYC Status, and Aadhaar Bank Account Seeding. If all three are “Yes”, you will definitely receive the 21st installment. If any one of them is “No”, you need to fix it immediately.
Who is NOT Eligible for PM Kisan?
Even if you are a farmer, you might not be eligible. The government has excluded certain categories of people.
- Institutional landholders are not eligible. The land must be owned by an individual or family.
- Farmer families where a member holds a constitutional post are excluded.
- Serving or retired officers and employees of central or state governments cannot apply. This does not apply to Multi Tasking Staff or Class IV/Group D employees.
- Doctors, Engineers, Lawyers, Chartered Accountants, and Architects registered with professional bodies are not eligible.
- Anyone who paid income tax in the last assessment year is also excluded.
- Retired pensioners who get a monthly pension of Rs 10,000 or more are not eligible.
Conclusion
The 21st installment of PM Kisan is coming soon for most farmers in India. It provides much-needed support before the winter sowing season. Farmers should not just wait passively. You should actively check your status on the portal. Ensure all your green ticks are visible for e-KYC and land verification. A little alertness now ensures you will receive your Rs 2,000 without any hassle in November.
