A big controversy has started in Bollywood. Police in Udaipur have registered an FIR against famous director Vikram Bhatt, his wife Shwetambari Bhatt, daughter Krishna Bhatt and five others for allegedly cheating a doctor of more than ₹30 crore. The doctor says he gave money to make films, including one on his late wife, but nothing happened properly.
The person who filed the complaint is Dr Ajay Murdia. He is the founder of Indira IVF hospital chain, which helps couples have babies through treatment. Dr Murdia lives in Udaipur. He went to Bhupalpura police station and told them the whole story.
Vikram Bhatt, who has made hit films like Raaz, 1920 and Ghulam, says all this is wrong. He told the media that the police have been given wrong information. He says he has all proofs and will show them soon.
How Did This Whole Thing Start?
It all began in 2024. Dr Murdia wanted to make a film in memory of his wife Indira, who passed away many years ago. He organised a music programme with singer Anup Jalota on her death anniversary. There he met a man named Dinesh Kataria from Udaipur. Kataria said he knows many big people in Mumbai film industry.

Kataria took Dr Murdia to Vrindavan Studio in Mumbai on 25 April 2024. There he introduced him to Vikram Bhatt. The doctor told Bhatt about his wish to make a biopic on his wife. Bhatt liked the idea. He said his wife and daughter also work in films through a company called VSB LLP.
Soon they signed papers. First agreement was for ₹40 crore. Then it became ₹47 crore for four films and some documentaries. Bhatt promised that these films will earn ₹100 to ₹200 crore easily. Dr Murdia started sending money through bank.
He sent around ₹44 crore in total. But things did not go as planned. Only two films got some work done. One big budget film never started. The doctor says Bhatt and others made fake bills, showed high expenses and took away most of the money themselves.
One film that did come out was Tumko Meri Kasam. It released in March 2025. It stars Anupam Kher, Adah Sharma and Esha Deol. This film is actually based on Dr Murdia’s own life story – how he started Indira IVF and fought many problems. But the doctor now says even this was part of the plan to keep him quiet.
What Does the FIR Say Exactly?
The FIR is filed under new laws for cheating, criminal breach of trust and conspiracy. Police say Dr Murdia was made partner in a new company called Indira Entertainment LLP. He had 50% share, Bhatt’s wife had the other 50%.

The accused are:
- Vikram Bhatt
- Shwetambari Bhatt (wife)
- Krishna Bhatt (daughter)
- Dinesh Kataria (Udaipur man who introduced)
- Mehboob Ansari (producer from Thane)
- Three others from Mumbai and Delhi
Udaipur SP Yogesh Goyal told reporters: “Doctor sahab ne bataya ki unki late wife ki yaad mein films banani thi. Paise diye, contract hua, lekin films theek se nahi bani. Jo bani uska credit bhi sahi nahi diya. Ab jaanch chal rahi hai.”
On 18 November, police arrested two people – Mehboob Ansari(co-producer) and a vendor named Sandeep Tribhuvan from Mumbai. They say these two helped in making fake bills. Both produced in Udaipur court and sent to 7 days police custody.
What Vikram Bhatt Is Saying
Vikram Bhatt came to know about the FIR only from TV news on 17 November. He has not got any official notice yet.
He told NDTV and ANI: “Mujhe aaj pata chala. Yeh FIR bilkul galat hai. Police ko galat jaankari di gayi hai. Jo likha hai woh sab jhooth hai. Agar itna bada fraud kiya toh phir proof hona chahiye na? Main sab proofs dikhaunga.”
Bhatt says the doctor himself stopped one film called Virat in the middle. “Technicians ka ₹2.5 crore abhi tak nahi diya usne. Wo log phone kar rahe hain mujhe.”

He also said Dr Murdia’s company was planning a big IPO (share market listing) worth thousands of crore. Because of that, many things got delayed.
Bhatt added: “Agar pehle cheat kiya toh baad mein phir se mere saath film kyun banayi? Tumko Meri Kasam toh usi ne produce karwayi thi. Sab confusion hai. Main police ke saath poora cooperate karunga.”
Past Problems for Vikram Bhatt
This is not the first time someone has complained against Vikram Bhatt for money matters. In 2023, a production house called K Sera Sera filed a case saying he did not give them ₹1.4 crore profit share from old films. That case is still going on.
What Happens Next?
Police are checking all bank papers, contracts and bills. They may call Vikram Bhatt to Udaipur for questioning soon. No arrest for Bhatt family yet.
Many people in film industry are surprised. Some say these days many rich people want to make films but do not understand how costly and risky it is. When films flop or delay, fights start.
Dr Murdia’s IVF company is very big now. It has centres all over India. Earlier this year, their IPO plan got stopped because of the film Tumko Meri Kasam. Market people said the film looked like company promotion.
Statements from Both Sides
Dr Ajay Murdia (through police complaint): “Mujhe bada profit dikhaya gaya. Late wife ki memory mein film banani thi. Lekin paise leke sab fake bills bana diye. Ab meri company ka naam bhi kharab ho raha hai.”
Vikram Bhatt: “Yeh greed ki baat nahi hai. Sab legal contract tha. Doctor sahab ne khud rok diya ek film. Main ready hoon saboot dene ke liye. Police dekh legi sach kya hai.”

“Yeh FIR completely misleading hai. Police ko galat documents se mislead kiya gaya hai. Doctor sahab ne khud Virat film rok di thi kyunki unka IPO plan tha aur SEBI ne objection kiya. Technicians ke ₹2.5 crore abhi tak baki hain – wo log paise maang rahe hain mujhse.”
He also said: “Agar pehle cheat kiya toh phir Tumko Meri Kasam kyun banwaya? Woh film toh unki apni life story hai aur unhone hi produce karwayi. Sab emails, WhatsApp, contracts mere paas hain – police ko dikha dunga.”
Bhatt has promised full cooperation with Rajasthan Police.
Udaipur Police SP Yogesh Goyal: “Proper jaanch kar rahe hain. Jo proof milega uske hisaab se action lenge.” “Fake bills aur forged documents mile hain. Do logon ko giraftaar kar liya hai. Baki accused se bhi poochhtaachh hogi. Pura sach samne layenge.”
