A horrific sexual crime involving an 8-year-old girl in Dabok village has triggered massive outrage in Udaipur, with furious villagers storming the Dabok police station in protest. The incident, which occurred on Sunday evening, has once again highlighted Rajasthan’s disturbing rise in sexual violence against minors, with recent police data revealing hundreds of such cases in just the first half of 2025.
The victim, a young girl from Dabok, had gone to a nearby field around 7:30 PM on Sunday. While she usually accompanied her mother, this time she wandered off alone while playing. Taking advantage of her vulnerability, the accused, identified as Ramlal (son of Gadda), a resident of Mander village, allegedly abducted her, dragged her into bushes, and raped her.
According to police reports, Ramlal covered the girl’s mouth to stifle her screams before committing the brutal act. After the assault, the traumatized child somehow managed to return home in a disoriented state. Her family, noticing her deteriorating condition, immediately rushed her to MB Hospital in Udaipur, where doctors confirmed sexual assault.
As soon as the crime was reported, Dabok police launched an intensive search operation. Multiple teams scoured nearby villages through the night, finally apprehending Ramlal on Monday morning. Additional SP Anjana Sukhwal confirmed the arrest, stating that the accused was being interrogated while legal proceedings were initiated.
However, the delay in his arrest—despite police claiming a swift response—further angered locals, who accused authorities of negligence.

Villagers storm police station
By Monday morning, news of the rape had spread across Dabok and neighboring villages, sparking violent protests. Hundreds of enraged villagers, including women and youth, gathered outside the Dabok police station, shouting slogans against the administration and demanding instant justice.
The protest quickly turned violent as demonstrators pelted stones at police vehicles, shattering windows, and blocked roads, disrupting traffic for hours. Police reinforcements, including SP Yogesh Goyal, Additional SP Anjana Sukhwal, and multiple DSPs, rushed to the spot to control the situation.
Authorities attempted to pacify the crowd, assuring them that the accused had been arrested and that strict action would be taken. However, some protesters refused to back down, leading to minor clashes. Police later registered a case against unidentified youths for vandalism and obstructing official duties.
Rajasthan’s Disturbing Trend: Rising Crimes Against Minors
This horrific incident is not isolated. Recent data released by the Rajasthan Police Headquarters paints a grim picture of the state’s law and order situation, particularly concerning crimes against women and minors.

Shocking Statistics (Jan-June 2025):
- Over 200 gang-rape cases involving minors reported.
- Five minor girls murdered after rape in the same period.
- 600+ cases of sexual assault against children registered.
- Numerous cases of online exploitation, with predators targeting minors through social media.
Former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot recently cited a Rajasthan Patrika report highlighting these alarming numbers, urging the state government to take immediate action. Activists and opposition leaders have slammed the BJP-led administration, accusing it of failing to protect women and children.
Why Is Rajasthan Seeing Such a Surge in Sexual Crimes?
Experts point to multiple factors behind the rising crimes against minors:
1. Weak Law Enforcement & Delayed Justice
Despite strict laws like the POCSO Act, convictions remain low due to slow investigations, witness intimidation, and case backlogs. Many perpetrators exploit legal delays to evade punishment.
2. Social Stigma & Lack of Awareness
Victims’ families often avoid reporting assaults due to fear of social shame, allowing offenders to roam free. Rural areas, in particular, lack proper sex education and awareness programs.
3. Influence of Pornography & Social Media
Easy access to explicit content has been linked to increased sexual violence, with predators using social media to lure minors.
4. Political Negligence & Poor Policing
Activists allege that the state government has failed to strengthen women’s safety initiatives, with police often understaffed and under-resourced in rural areas.
Public Outrage & Calls for Stringent Action
The Dabok rape case has reignited demands for harsher punishments, faster trials, and better policing. Social media is flooded with hashtags like #RajasthanUnsafeForWomen, with citizens demanding:
- Death penalty for child rapists
- Fast-track courts for POCSO cases
- Increased police patrolling in rural areas
- Community awareness programs on child safety
