21st PM Kisan Installment

New Delhi – In a significant move to provide relief to farmers affected by natural calamities, the Central Government has released the 21st installment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme in advance to eligible farmers in Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand. The disbursement, which began in late September and continued into October, is aimed at providing timely financial assistance to those grappling with the aftermath of floods and landslides.

Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan announced that this advance payment will help farmers meet their immediate agricultural and household needs. While farmers in these four states have received the crucial ₹2,000 installment, the farming community across the rest of the country is now eagerly anticipating the nationwide release of the 21st installment. Speculation is rife that the government may disburse the funds to all remaining eligible farmers before the festival of Diwali.

The 20th installment of the PM-KISAN scheme was released on August 2, 2025, by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, benefiting approximately 9.7 crore farmers across the nation. Prior to that, the 19th installment was credited to farmers’ accounts on February 24, 2025.

Under the PM-KISAN scheme, the government provides income support of ₹6,000 per year to all landholding farmer families across the country in three equal installments of ₹2,000 each.

e-KYC Mandatory for Receiving Funds

The government has reiterated that completing the electronic Know Your Customer (e-KYC) process is mandatory for all beneficiaries to receive the PM-KISAN installments. Farmers who have not yet completed their e-KYC are urged to do so at the earliest to ensure the timely credit of their funds. The e-KYC can be completed through OTP-based authentication on the official PM-KISAN portal or through biometric authentication at Common Service Centres (CSCs).

How to Check Beneficiary Status

Farmers can check their beneficiary status on the official PM-KISAN website (pmkisan.gov.in). The “Farmers Corner” section on the portal allows beneficiaries to check their status by entering their Aadhaar number, mobile number, or bank account number.

Other Farmer-Centric Initiatives

In addition to the PM-KISAN scheme, the government is set to launch other initiatives aimed at the welfare of the farming community. On October 11, 2025, the government will launch a program to provide free certified and hybrid seeds to farmers. Furthermore, a new scheme, the “PM Dhan Dhanya Yojana,” will also be rolled out to support farmers and enhance agricultural productivity. These announcements underscore the government’s continued focus on the agricultural sector and the well-being of farmers.
