NVS Class 6 Admission 2026: The Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS) has officially opened the online application process for Class 6 admissions for the academic session 2026–27. Admission will be conducted through the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Selection Test (JNVST), a nationwide entrance exam that provides talented rural students an opportunity to study in prestigious residential schools run by NVS.
Important Dates for NVS Class 6 Admission 2026
The online application process began on 30th May 2025. Initially scheduled to close earlier, the last date to submit the form has now been extended to 27th August 2025. Candidates must also complete the online payment, if applicable, by the same date.
The examination for summer-bound schools will be held on 13th December 2025, while the results for winter-bound schools will be declared on 11th April 2026.
Application Fee
One of the key highlights of the process is that no application fee is required for any candidate, making it completely free of cost.
Age Limit for Applicants
To be eligible, candidates must be born between 1st May 2014 and 30th July 2016. NVS also provides relaxation in age limits as per its rules.
Eligibility Criteria
- The applicant must be a resident of the district where the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya is located.
- The student should have passed Class 5 in the academic session 2025 from a government or government-recognized school in the same district.
- Candidates are required to apply for admission only in the JNV of their own district.
Total Seats Available
For Class 6 admission in 2026, NVS has announced a total of 654 seats across different schools.
Required Documents for Application
Candidates need to keep the following documents ready while filling out the online form:
- Recent passport-sized color photograph (scanned, with a light background)
- Scanned signature on white paper with black or blue pen
- Caste certificate (for SC/ST/OBC applicants)
- Domicile certificate (for applicants under Rajasthan domicile quota)
- Income certificate (for EWS category)
- Category certificate (for PWD, Ex-servicemen, or other reserved categories)
- Government-issued ID proof such as Aadhaar or Voter ID
- Any other relevant documents specified in the official notification
Exam Pattern for JNVST 2026
The entrance test will be conducted in offline mode (pen and paper-based). It will include three sections:
- Mental Ability Test (MAT)
- Arithmetic Test (AT)
- Language Test (LT)
The paper will consist of 100 questions carrying 100 marks, with a total duration of 2 hours. Candidates can attempt the exam in Hindi or English.
