Candidates complain of being allotted NEET PG exam centres in far-off states; IMA-JDN urges action to ensure equitable access ahead of August 3 exam
The Indian Medical Association – Junior Doctors’ Network (IMA-JDN) has raised serious concerns regarding the NEET PG exam centre allotments for the upcoming National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test Postgraduate (NEET-PG) 2025, scheduled to be held on August 3.
In an urgent representation to Union Health Minister J P Nadda, the IMA-JDN has demanded that the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) reopen the NEET PG exam centre filling portal. The demand comes after widespread reports from aspirants across India who have been assigned exam centres in states far from their hometowns, sparking distress and logistical challenges.
While some candidates were allotted centres in nearby cities, thousands have reportedly been assigned NEET PG exam centres in other states, forcing them to plan long, expensive, and exhausting travel to unfamiliar places—often just days before the exam.
“This move is causing grave concern, especially for students from economically weaker sections, female candidates, and those from remote or rural backgrounds,” the IMA-JDN stated.
The organisation highlighted that this disparity in NEET PG exam centres state wise not only undermines fairness but may also severely affect the mental well-being and exam performance of candidates preparing for this crucial, once-a-year opportunity.
Students Ask: ‘Are There NEET PG Exam Centres Available Near Me?’
The concerns have sparked a flurry of online searches and discussions around NEET PG exam centres availability near me, as candidates attempt to verify if any alternate centres are accessible. However, with the NEET PG exam centre date fast approaching, options are limited unless NBEMS intervenes promptly.
The IMA-JDN reiterated its commitment to promoting equity and accessibility in the medical education system, stating, “We remain committed to ensuring fairness and inclusivity in all aspects of medical examinations, especially for such a significant gateway as the NEET-PG.”
Supreme Court to Hear Petitions on NEET PG 2025 Transparency
Meanwhile, the Supreme Court of India has scheduled a hearing on August 3 for multiple petitions challenging the transparency of the NEET PG 2025 evaluation process. A bench of Justices K Vinod Chandran and NV Anjaria will hear pleas demanding the release of answer keys, question papers, and detailed evaluation reports.
One of the key petitions, filed through advocate Tanvi Dubey, has called for greater clarity in the NBE’s assessment mechanism, arguing that the current process lacks transparency and leaves candidates in the dark regarding their performance.
