These courses are designed to offer students a unique blend of theoretical knowledge and hands-on practical training, ensuring they are industry-ready upon graduation.
Students to Gain Practical Experience: Prof. Mishra
Officially inaugurating the admission process on Thursday, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sunita Mishra encouraged students to enroll in these forward-thinking programs.
“The objective of these courses is not only to provide theoretical knowledge but also to impart practical experience so that students can shape their careers with confidence,” stated Prof. Mishra. “Through these industry-oriented programs, students will be able to successfully build careers in key sectors like retail, logistics, banking, tourism, hospitality, and insurance.”
Earn While You Learn: Students to Receive Stipends
A key highlight of these programs is the mandatory apprenticeship component with leading companies. Prof. Mishra emphasized that this would provide invaluable industry exposure.
“During the training period, students will also be provided a stipend by the companies,” she added. “This financial support will empower them economically while they pursue their studies.”
Paving the Way for a Self-Reliant India
Prof. B.L. Verma, the Nodal Officer for the AEDP program and Dean of the College of Commerce, outlined the broader vision.
“All these courses are based on the National Education Policy (NEP). After completing these programs, students will be able to secure good employment in various companies and will contribute to realizing the dream of an ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ (Self-Reliant India),” Prof. Verma said. “These courses will undoubtedly prove to be a milestone in the history of the university.”
The university plans to extend these apprenticeship-embedded degree programs to all its constituent colleges, providing a wider opportunity for youth to build fulfilling careers.
What is NEP 2020
NEP 2020 is India’s National Education Policy, a comprehensive plan to transform the country’s education system into a modern, holistic, and flexible one focused on 21st-century needs. It replaces the 1986 policy, emphasizes the pillars of Access, Equity, Quality, Affordability, and Accountability, and aims to develop each student’s unique potential and make India a global knowledge superpower. Key changes include a new “5+3+3+4” school structure, emphasis on mother tongue as the medium of instruction, and a more multidisciplinary approach to higher education.
Key Achievements of NEP 2020
- Curriculum Reforms: The 5+3+3+4 structure and NCF-SE promote experiential and competency-based learning.Â
- Foundational Skills: NIPUN Bharat and Vidya Pravesh have reached over 4.2 crore students across 8.9 lakh schools
- Inclusivity: Over 1.15 lakh SEDG students and 7.58 lakh girls enrolled in residential schools; PRASHAST App supports disability screening.
- Teachers’ training: 4 lakh+ teachers trained under NISHTHA.
- Leveraging Technology: 72% of schools now have internet. Initiatives like Vidyanjali, DIKSHA (Digital Infrastructure for Knowledge Sharing), PM e VIDYA, e-Jaadui Pitara (AI powered play-based learning), AI Bots (Katha Sakhi, Teacher Tara)
- Testing: The Common University Entrance Test (CUET) (2022) is now a key route to undergraduate admissions.
NEP 2020 provides a transformative vision for a 21st-century education system. Notable progress includes Foundational Literacy & Numeracy (FLN), digital access, and higher education reforms. However, federal disagreements, infrastructure gaps, and regulatory delays remain key challenges. With strategic investment, inter-governmental coordination, and innovation, NEP’s goals of a flexible, inclusive, and future-ready education ecosystem can be achieved.Â
