Barmer Police achieved a major breakthrough by solving the district’s largest robbery case within just 72 hours. In a daring heist at a medical businessman’s residence in Gadra Road town, where ₹1 crore worth of valuables were looted, the police have arrested all four accused, and efforts are underway to recover the stolen gold, silver, and cash.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Narendra Singh Meena revealed that on the night of September 4, around 1:30 AM, four masked robbers entered the house of medical businessman Uttamchand Maheshwari through the roof. They assaulted and held Uttamchand, his wife, daughter, and granddaughter hostage at gunpoint. Threatening the family with a revolver, the robbers looted 40-45 tolas of gold, 50-60 kg of silver, and ₹1.25 lakh in cash.

Uttamchand immediately informed the police, and given the severity of the crime, SP Narendra Singh Meena personally visited the crime scene and took up the challenge to crack the case. Under his guidance, specialized police teams, including a CCTV surveillance team, an intelligence-gathering team, and a technical team, were formed and worked tirelessly for three days.

How the Police Cracked the Case

The police treated the case as a top priority. The investigation team gathered details about the robbers’ appearance and language from the victim’s family. The CCTV surveillance team meticulously analyzed footage from over 100 cameras around the crime scene. The technical team used advanced techniques and intelligence to identify suspects, while the Dog Squad and Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) collected evidence from the site.

During the investigation, police suspected the involvement of someone familiar with the victim. Data analysis revealed suspicious activities by a former employee of Uttamchand’s shop and his salesman friends. The police kept them under surveillance, and after three days of relentless effort, all four accused were apprehended.

Main Accused Was an Insider

Interrogation revealed that all the accused worked as salesmen at medical shops. Dissatisfied with their low salaries and eager to get rich quickly, they planned the robbery. The main accused, who previously worked at Uttamchand’s shop, had detailed knowledge of the house. He, along with three accomplices, orchestrated the heist, waiting for Uttamchand’s son to leave the city before executing their plan.

After the robbery, the accused escaped via railway tracks to avoid CCTV cameras and resumed work at their respective shops the next morning to avoid suspicion. The police have arrested all four, and further interrogation is ongoing to recover the stolen items.

Head Constable Premaram and Constable Bhupendra Singh played a pivotal role in the breakthrough. The operation involved the District Special Team (DST), including ASI Mahipal Singh, Head Constable Premaram, Constables Malaram, Nakhat Singh, Devaram, Kishore, Harlal Singh, Ramswaroop, Sandeep Commando, as well as the Intelligence and DCRB teams, including Head Constable Veeram Khan, Constables Bhupendra Singh, Shivratan, Lumba Ram, Saddam, Ratan Lal, Bhavani Singh, Jogendra, Khim Singh, and Ganga Ram. From Gadra Road Police Station, SHO Chhail Singh, ASI Jagdish, Head Constable Hanwanta Ram, Constables Pawan Kumar, Vimlesh Kumar, Ramesh Kumar, Hukmaram, and Gajendra Singh were also involved.
